Leading
purveyor of premium teas.
When
we were researching products for Ferns Country Store,
we happened upon The Republic of Tea one day
at a delightful little coffee shop. What we discovered
was a firm commitment to tea that we believed would
be an excellent companion to our fine line of coffees.
We also discovered a host of slight nuances and dramatic
manufacturing processes that make a world of difference
between 'just a cup of tea' and a fine cup of the essence
of tea.
And
we found an attitude of doing business that was refreshing
and fun. Republic of Tea drinkers are called
"Citizens of The Republic"
Salespeople
are called "Ambassadors"
.as a retailer
we are called an "Embassy", and so on. Check
out their website for much more! In the meantime,
here's more about our Vendor Partner:
From
The Republic
When we set out to form our small Republic, our not
so covert mission was to create a Tea Revolution. Our
purpose is to enrich people's lives through the experience
of fine tea and the Sip by Sip life - a life of health,
balance and well-being. From the beginning, tea has
been a drink that is shared with others. Around the
world, at high tea in Devonshire and age-old ceremonies
in Japan, tea is brewed and taken together with friends
and family in rituals of hospitality and nourishment
for both body and soul.
Although tea is the most imbibed beverage in the world
(after good ole aqua purea, of course), most have never
experienced the flavor of a true cup of full-leaf tea,
brewed from simple, natural, whole leaves.
The Republic of Tea sells only full-leaf teas
made from hand picked young shoots, the two leaves and
a bud that sprout from the very tip of the tea bush.
The whole leaves retain their unique essential oils
and are full-bodied and deliciously aromatic. This full-leaf
experience is better tasting and much more diverse in
its range of subtle flavors than the teas that other
companies sell. While we encourage drinking full-leaf
tea whenever possible, we offer the finest teas you
will find in a bag. Each single cup serving is made
from round, natural, unbleached paper and is free from
wasteful envelopes, tags and string. The
Republic of Tea sells full-leaf tea because it's
simply better tasting and much more diverse in its range
of subtle flavors than the cut leaves or tea dust you
will find in most tea bags.
When
brewed, fine tea leaves unfold luxuriantly in fresh
hot water, offering up their complex characters at a
gentle pace. These leaves produce wonderful cups that
can delight and pleasure the senses. And brewing fresh
whole leaves is as easy as boiling water.
Traveling to the misty green tea gardens in Asia and
India, The Republic of Tea seeks out only the
best unblended, estate-grown leaves. With our passion
for healthy tea, we work directly with tea growers to
produce the finest leaves in the world. Our Certified
Organically Grown Full-Leaf Estate Teas and Herb Blends,
are fresh hand-harvested teas, herbs, flowers and spices,
grown without the use of synthetic chemicals or pesticides,
using only sustainable interdependent farming methods.
These exquisite prized teas are all Certified Organic
by Quality Assurance International.
Like our teas, our caffeine-free herbal infusions give
up their essences best as whole natural elements. To
make these exceptional blends, we use fresh, hand-picked
herbs and botanicals to create blends that are more
complex and varied than others you will find.
All of our teas undergo correct crafting to ensure that
we offer only the finest, freshest, healthiest teas
in the world. As an example, unlike other tea companies
which use ethyl acetate to dacaf their teas, our decaf
teas are decaffeinated using an all natural CO2/ high
pressure process, a process that is more costly but
retains the valuable health promoting properties of
tea.
All teas have varying levels of EGCG, a compound that
belongs to a family of antioxidants known as polyphenols
which have been identified as the strongest antioxidant
remarkable for blocking cellular damage caused by harmful
molecules in the body known as free radicals. Because
green tea and white tea undergoes less processing than
black tea, they contain twice the concentration of polyphenols
and are rich in EGCG. And now there is even greater
good news...researchers have discovered that RED
TEA, an indigenous wonder herb of South Africa called
rooibos (ROY-boss), is full of poyphenols and flavonoids
and because RED TEA is completely caffeine-free,
you can enjoy unlimited cups, multiplying the benefits
without overdoing the caffeine. RED TEA was also
introduced to America by The Republic of Tea so you
could enjoy numerous daily cuppas.
White
Tea is classified the rarest of all teas, as it
is plucked only a few days in early spring right before
the leaf opens. The white, downy buds are quickly steamed
and dried resulting in a delicate, low caffeine tea.
The Republic of Tea is proud that our SILVER
RAIN WHITE TEA is recognized as the finest silver
needles tea available. We are equally pleased that our
proprietary method of production allows us to offer
the full health benefits of magnificent and rare WHITE
TEA in our signature, round, unbleached tea bags.
Please
know that preparing tea is an art not a science. What
is right for your taste buds is what's right for you.
Following brewing instructions is as personal as it
gets. Steep your tea a little or a lot - it's strictly
a matter of taste. Imbibing fine tea is a result of
paying attention to the nuances that are the result
of time, temperature and taste. That said, polyphenols
are released more at the beginning of your steep than
at the end, any billowing water will do the right thing.
You
need only to stop guzzling and learn how to taste.
